Joan Goosen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (# 6190) who is passionate about helping women and teen girls reach their goals for relational, mental and spiritual wholeness. She has a BA in Psychology and a MA in Professional Counselling.

 

Joan takes into the consideration the whole person – body, mind, spirit and relationships – in the professional helping relationship believing all are interrelated. She uses therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), effective in healing from traumatic experiences, Biblical Counselling, effective in addressing identity and Christian maturity concerns, as well as Art Therapy, which utilizes symbolic expression of thoughts and emotions to facilitate healing and growth when verbalization is difficult.

 

Joan’s approach to counselling is based on ethical standards of helping and is marked by care, collaboration, and respect within an environment that is confidential, professional, and healing. Joan utilizes consultation and training to further her professional development. She values spending time with her husband and family and enjoys creative and outdoors activities.
